About

James "Jimmy" Nesbitt was born (January 15th, 1965) in Broughshane, County Antrim, and raised in the Coleraine area of Northern Ireland, UK. Attending a local grammar school (Coleraine Academical Insitution), he originally planned to be French teacher.

It was not until teacher Robert Simpson encouraged him to take an apprenticeship at the local Riverside Theatre that his interest in acting began, eventually leading him to a drama school in London. Moving to England, James commenced to forge what has become a highly successful acting career.

James is probably best known in the UK for his role in the ITV drama series "Cold Feet". He has also starred in award-winning film "Bloody Sunday" as well as in "Lucky Break" starring alongside Timothy Spall and Bill Nighy. He also appeared in the film "Waking Ned Divine" (1998) as Pig Finn.

James is currently starring as undercover police officer, Tommy Murphy, in the great BBC television series "Murphy's Law". In September 2006 he began filming "Jekyll", a six-part updating of the story of "The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde", written by Steven Moffat and produced by Hartswood Films for BBC One. The show premiered in June 2007.
